Niceness is a vegan cafe, sitting quietly alongside the river in Nago city.
We were greeted by a beautiful cat.
She greets you when you come in, also she sees you off.
They used to run a restaurant in Naha, and they moved here about 2 years ago. They came here because they wanted to be near where the vegetables are grown. And they built this place by themselves.
Wow. Handmade for sure. But very carefully handmade and also handkept. Everything is put in where it is supposed to be.
Very homy, cozy atmosphere.
Somehow this floor pattern is very memorable and it’s what I remember this place by.
It was March and a little chilly. I loved this classic heater.
There is an outside eating space where you can bring your pets.
For lunch, there’s Nepal curry plate, and rice bread plate.
Everything is made of carefully selected ingredients of vegetable oriented. No chemicals, no refined sugar, no GMO crops. The owner chefs are conscious with Macrobiotic and Ayurveda diet. Tries to source as many organic, local vegetables as possible.
This is the bread they make with wheat from Kumamoto, roughly polished rice from Nago. It’s “mochy” chewy texture. They say it doesn’t chill your body like all wheat bread. No eggs, no diary, no oil, no refined sugar
We chose the curry plate.
It comes with 2 kinds of curry of the day. This day, one with beans and one with lots of vegetables.
Deepfried veggies and pickles. Just full of vegetables.
The curry is not hot. It’s not something spicy you would expect when you go to eat curry. It’s rather gentle and body warming. It’s a great way to enjoy a lot of different vegetables. The rice is very good too.
I have masala chai tea with soy milk. Very soothing and warming.
They have handdrip specialty coffee too. Will try it the next time.
This was a scone with some multi grains. It was great in taste and flavor of freshly baked grains.
They have other organic vegan sweets too.
